Net-Inspect publication error 'The primary datum has not yet been defined'

'Error: Upload attempt failed. The primary datum has not yet been defined'

When publishing to Net-Inspect, the user will receive an error alerting them if they forgot to enter the primary datum in a feature control frame (screenshot below). However, it is possible to receive this error even when your feature control frame appears to include the primary datum. This article will explain what you may have done wrong, and how to correct it so you can upload to Net-Inspect.

When building a feature control frame, If you mistakenly skip over the primary datum field when using the GD&T builder tool, you will receive the error message above. This can be corrected by finding the feature control frame that is missing it's primary datum and adding it in the builder on the side panel.

Another scenario that can cause this error is a bit more complicated to explain, and can make it more difficult to find the source of the error. If you mistakenly skip over the primary datum field when using the GD&T builder tool, and add the missing value on to the end using the Value field, you will receive that same error even though the feature control frame appears to be built correctly.  (See video below)

To correct this, you will need to rebuild the feature control frame, adding the primary datum in the appropriate field.
