Why can't I update Net-Inspect Custom Field Mapping in InspectionXpert?

Workaround to Update & Publish Net-Inspect Additional Fields

This article provides a workaround for the bug preventing users from updating their Net-Inspect Custom Field Mapping inside InspectionXpert. Step-by-Step Guide:

Step 1: Open the OnDemand Settings XML file

  1. Open your Windows File Explorer
  2. Copy and paste the following file location: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\InspectionXpert\InspectionXpert OnDemand 2.0  
  3. Right-click the file 'OnDemand_settings' and open with Notepad

Step 2: Edit the NI Custom Fields

  1. Scroll down until you find <NICustFields>
  2. You will find the InspectionXpert Custom Field next to <IXCustName>
  3. Update the Net-Inspect Publish Name by entering it between <NIPublishName> & </NIPublishName>
  4. Change the <NIPublishStatus> to 'TRUE' to ensure the Publish checkbox in InspectionXpert will be checked
  5. Click the File tab and hit 'Save' (This will update the Net-Inspect Options in InspectionXpert)

Step 3: Confirm the changes in InspectionXpert

  1. Open InspectionXpert
  2. Go to the Options found under the Home tab
  3. Choose the Net-Inspect Options
  4. Your Net-Inspect Additional Field should be updated and your Publish checkbox checked
  5. You can now export your project to Net-Inspect
