    March 20th, 2019

This video and guide will walk you through the steps to import your own inspection report. You can also use these steps to customize any of the default InspectionXpert reports.

    Step-by-Step Guide:

(Steps based on InspectionXpert 2.0 & Microsoft Office 365)

Step 1: Build your template format in Excel

    • Load your custom report into Excel and clear our any data (ex: measurements, part names, etc.)
    • Save the file as a Template (.xlt)
      • Click "File"
      • Click "Save As"
      • Select a folder to save the file
      • Name the file and change the file type to Excel Template (.xlt)
      • Click Save
    • Close Excel

Step 2: Load your Excel Template through InspectionXpert

    • Load your saved template in InspectionXpert
      • Click "File"
      • Click "Template Editor" from the File menu
      • Select the template you created in Step 1 and click "Open"
    • Excel will load your template with the InspectionXpert Template Editor toolbox

Step 3: Build your Custom Report

Use the InspectionXpert Template Editor to insert tokens into their correct location (Tokens are a line of code that tells InspectionXpert where to map the data when you run the report)

    • Select the first token from the Template Editor that you want in your report
    • Click on the cell you want the data to populate in
    • Click "Insert" on the Template Editor
    • You should now see the line of code in the cell
    • Repeat this process until you have all the necessary data points mapped
      • You only need to add one token for each characteristic
        • Example: All of your balloons will populate down the column from a single token

    • Add "IXFooterRow001" to your bottom row of data (This will allow the report to automatically expand based on your project size)
      • Click on the number next to the last row in your data field (This will highlight your entire row)
      • Click on "Name Manager" found under the Formulas tab
      • Click "New" and enter "IXFooterRow001" as the name
        • If you are using multiple sheets, change the number to correspond with the sheet (Example: IXFooterRow002 for Sheet/Form 2 and IXFooterRow003 for Sheet/Form 3)
      • Click "Finished" on the InxpectionXpert Template Editor
      • Save the template

Step 4: Export your Custom Report

    • In InxpectionXpert, click "Excel" on the Home tab

    • In the Templates section under "Properties/Preference", click the "+" button
    • Select the template you saved in Step 3 and click "Open"
    • Click on the name of the template to highlight it and press "Export"
